Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Mallorca is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and manage all engineering activities, drive the pre-opening phase, and mentor the team. You will oversee budget, utilities, and safety programs, ensuring MO standards and regulatory compliance across the property.

You will coordinate with HR, IT&T, and operations, guiding strategic projects, energy conservation, and stakeholder collaboration to maintain luxury service and plant performance.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five years in engineering management, ideally within luxury hospitality.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in areas such as Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Renewable Energy Engineering).
• Pre-opening and resort experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain in a proper and safe condition of all buildings, plant, plant rooms, equipment, and front and back of house areas.
• Establish and implement the “Safe and Sound” procedures such as the Fire, Life, Health, Safety and Security, Emergency and Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group standards.
• Oversee the selection of engineering outsourced companies and services.
• Participate in the formulation of strategic business plans for the hotel.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes in accordance with MOHG guidelines.
• Establish and manage the annual CapEX plan and budget for all aspects of engineering.
• Oversee the strategic direction of general projects related to the enhancement of the hotel.
• Support the Financial Controller in the hotel’s overall financial performance; the annual hotel budget process; energy and cost consumption; and engineering contractor’s selection and documentation.
• Support the Director of Human Resources in recruitment and development; labour cost management; and recognition of employees.
• Support the IT&T Director in telecommunications upgrades and maintenance of contingency systems; testing of emergency power systems.
• Promote and coordinate MOHG’s Fire, Life, Health, Safety and Security guidelines.
