Captain is seeking a Chief Engineer (Y1 / C/E(MN)III/3 or III/2 Y2) for a 52m motor yacht based in the Western Mediterranean. The role requires strong references, long-term longevity, and refit experience, with rotation 8–10 weeks on/off and private accommodation onboard. Start date anticipated December 2026, DOE.

Ideal candidates will manage MTU 16V 2000 engines, Northern Lights generators, and Naiad stabilizers, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while leading a small engineering team.

Formación

• Must hold a valid Chief Engineer license (Y1 or C/E(MN)III/3)/(III/2 for Y2)
• Experience on vessels of similar size (52m) is required
• Refit experience is essential

Responsabilidades

• Overall responsibility for all technical, mechanical and electrical systems onboard.
• Routine maintenance and operation of main engines, generators and auxiliary equipment.
• Management of fuel, water and waste systems
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, Flag and Class regulations
• Budgeting and inventory control for the engineering department
• Lead and mentor the 2nd Engineer and oversee engine room operations
• Participate in safety drills and emergency procedures
• Foster strong teamwork and crew wellbeing

Chief Engineer – 52M Motor Yacht (Rotational Position)

Looking for an experienced and qualified Chief Engineer (Y1 / C/E(MN)III/3 or III/2 (Y2) )to join a 52M motor yacht currently based in the Western Med. The vessel is a Cayman Island commercially registered and operates in the Mediterranean and Bahamas/ Caribbean with a mixed moderate use of charter and private.

The ideal candidate will have excellent references and proven longevity and experience on similar size vessels. Refit experience is a must.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for all technical, mechanical and electrical systems onboard.
• Routine maintenance and operation of main engines, generators and auxiliary equipment.
• Management of fuel, water and waste systems
• Ensure ongoing compliance with safety and environmental regulations as well as Flag and Class regulations.
• Familiar with IDEA Management Software and PinPoint.
• Budgeting and inventory control for the engineering department.
• Active participation in safety drills, emergency procedures and damage control.
• Lead, mentor and work alongside a 2nd Engineer as well as overseeing and managing daily engine room operations and maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.

Technical Requirements

• Vessel is powered by MTU 16V 2000 main engines, Northern Lights M1066H generators & Naiad stabilizers.
• Knowledge & experience with these systems would be essential.

Position Details

• Rotation: 8 - 10 weeks on/off
• Accommodation: Private cabin, sharing heads with the Chief Officers.
• Salary: DOE
• Start Date: December 2026

The yacht has a well-established crew with a low turn-over rate, so we’re looking for candidates with a positive attitude and team-player mentality to complement an excellent crew culture. Good Crew Mess etiquette is a must. The crew on board are active and like to keep fit.
