Job summary

Terma A/S in Lystrup, Denmark, seeks a (Senior) Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines for AI initiatives at the edge. You will ingest, clean and structure sensor/operational data, building the data foundations used by data scientists and ML engineers, with on‑prem infrastructure.

The role emphasizes security and collaboration with a diverse team across AI, software, drones, and defense partners, enabling hands‑on, scalable data solutions in real‑world environments.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant degree in engineering, computer science, physics, experimental natural sciences or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, batch and streaming.
• Strong Python and/or Java skills for data engineering work.
• Experience with on-prem infrastructure and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Understanding of data modeling, storage formats and database design.
• Experience with sensor data ingestion at scale and time series analysis.
• Hands-on hardware experience with sensors, lab instrumentation or embedded systems.
• Commitment to data quality, monitoring and pipeline reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data pipelines from ingestion to production.
• Own data infrastructure for specific projects, from physical layer up.
• Ingest, clean and structure vast sensor and operational data, on-prem.
• Oversee systems that capture, move, store and serve data at scale.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to ensure solid data foundations.
• Maintain data quality and monitor pipeline reliability.
