Your mission

Zenobē is looking for an Investment and Commercial Manager with experience in renewable energy and battery storage to support the growth of our Network Infrastructure business unit.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of electricity markets, proven experience working with relevant customers, and a good grasp of the project development process. Ideally, the candidate also brings experience or knowledge of European battery storage markets – particularly in Germany.
Working closely with the Director of Network Infrastructure and other members of the Business Development team, the candidate will drive new project opportunities from identification through to financial close. This role involves close collaboration with Corporate Finance, Legal, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to deliver complex, large-scale battery projects.
This position requires regular communication with clients and external stakeholders. The candidate is expected to hit the ground running and thrive in a fast-paced, uncertain environment under tight deadlines.
WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE

  • Supporting the development of battery storage projects across transmission and distribution networks in the UK and Europe.
  • Developing compelling proposals and competitive tenders in international markets.
  • Creating commercial solutions and maintaining customer relationships to secure contracts.
  • Preparing high-quality internal documentation for the Investment Committee.
  • Working with the finance team to build and apply financial models.
  • Assisting the Corporate Finance team in securing project financing.
  • Monitoring regulatory, political, and commercial developments related to projects.
  • Supporting business case development through to project close.
  • Contributing to strategic planning – e.g., identifying new target markets (Europe/USA/AUS).
  • Collaborating with international teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Analyzing regulatory frameworks and their impact on business models.
  • Preparing sales and marketing materials and representing Zenobē at conferences.
  • Building strategic partnerships to scale the business.
  • Providing guidance and oversight to an Associate within the team.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s), preferably in engineering, business, or finance.
  • Genuine interest in clean energy and our social and environmental mission.
  • Solid professional experience (5–10 years) in business development / international commercial roles in the energy sector, ideally in energy storage or renewables.
  • Experience in electricity and battery storage markets in the UK and Europe – ideally with a focus on Germany.
  • Strong commercial skills – comfortable working with contracts, proposals, and project finance.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial models and commercial strategies.
  • Native-level or fluent German language skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, team spirit, and high attention to detail.
  • Motivation to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
