Job summary

Hannover Rückversicherung AG in Hannover, Germany, is looking for a System Engineer IT Security to join our GIT-CS Security Monitoring team on a permanent basis. You will classify threats, support remediation, and monitor the threat landscape to protect our IT environment.

The role requires IT security knowledge, network protocol expertise, and cloud experience, with German business fluency and English conversational ability.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge or practical experience in IT security
• Strong IT infrastructure knowledge, incl. network protocols and vulnerability management; experience with security architectures
• Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux and cloud-based systems/servers
• Experience with enterprise networks and cloud environments a plus
• German business fluent, English conversational
• Ability to stay organized in complex situations with responsibility and an eye for innovation

Responsibilities

• Classify and assess threats to IT landscape using vulnerability scanning tools
• Support IT teams in remediating vulnerabilities across network, storage, cloud and email environments
• Continuously monitor threat landscapes and assess relevance to IT environment
• Analyze incidents such as cyberattacks, spam and phishing campaigns for early detection and mitigation
• Plan and implement measures to ensure regulatory and legal IT security compliance

If you want to experience how things are done in the GIT-CS Security Monitoring team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, on a permanent basis, commencing at the earliest possible date as a System Engineer IT Security.

You can look forward to

• Classifying and assessing threats to our IT landscape using vulnerability scanning tools
• Supporting IT teams in remediating vulnerabilities across network, storage, cloud and email environments
• Continuously monitoring current threat landscapes and vulnerabilities (e.g. via specialist portals, security blogs and alerts) and assessing their relevance for our IT environment
• Analysing incidents such as potential cyberattacks as well as spam and phishing campaigns to enable early detection and mitigation of threats
• Planning and implementing measures to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal IT security requirements

You come equipped with

• Theoretical knowledge in IT security (e.g. through a relevant degree) and/or practical experience in IT security
• Sound knowledge of IT infrastructure, particularly network protocols and vulnerability management, ideally complemented by experience with IT security architectures
• Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux and cloud-based workplace systems and servers
• Initial experience with enterprise networks and cloud environments is an advantage
• German at a business fluent level and English at a conversational level
• The ability to maintain an overview in complex situations, combined with a sense of responsibility and an eye for Innovation
