Job summary

ABB AG is seeking a service technician to join our global environmental measurement team. The role focuses on field service activities, communicating timelines, and ensuring customer satisfaction while operating primarily in a remote work model with travel across Germany.

You will perform on-site and remote service tasks, identify and resolve technical issues, prepare material lists, and train field service associates when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience as a service technician in environmental measurement technology preferred.
• Fluency in German and English is required.
• Willingness to travel within Germany and occasionally abroad.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve the customer's operations and reduce pain points while on-site with the customer.
• Perform field service tasks, diagnose issues, and perform analyses remotely or on-site within certified service areas.
• Prepare material lists and ensure timely availability of parts and equipment for service activities.
• Act as a trainer for field service associates and customers when needed.

This position reports to:

Service Team Leader

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. Each day, you will deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer's operations and eliminate pain points.
• Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
• Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
• Acting as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.

Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with complementary products such as dust and/or mercury measurements as well as emission calculators
• Ability to demonstrate your experience as a service technician, ideally already in environmental measurement technology
• You have successfully completed training as a technician or master craftsman, with a focus on electrical engineering, automation technology or a related field
• You are at ease communicating in german and English
• High willingness to travel within Germany, occasionally abroad.
• You have an pronounced affinity for service and a high degree of initiative and independence
