Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Manching, Germany, seeks a Senior Software Architect to design and implement a modular, distributed framework for flight-simulation infrastructure. You will steer architecture across IT systems and ensure testability while collaborating with multiple software teams.

Strong C++ skills and experience with distributed systems are essential for this role, with opportunities to influence our high-fidelity simulators and development processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
• 5–10 years of professional experience.
• Extensive experience in software architecture and development.
• Distributed systems design and implementation experience.
• Experience with IT infrastructure projects (Terraform, Nomad, Kubernetes).
• Excellent C++ skills; knowledge of Qt/QML, Go or Python is a plus.

Job description

In order to take our Engineering and Training Simulators to the next level, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a passionate:

Senior Software Architect (d/f/m)

We develop top notch, high fidelity flight simulators for a variety of aircraft. We have the technical responsibility for all our simulators. We design, develop, integrate and deliver complex training & engineering simulations to our customers. At the core, our simulations are distributed real-time applications. Most of our software is written in C++. Our team is looking for an additional Software Architect to design and implement a modular, distributed infrastructure related framework which controls and integrates dozens of IT systems from startup, over deployment to shutdown.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Design and Develop the architecture of distributed software & frameworks in the context of Infrastructure & Operations
• Create and ensure excellent testability
• Coordinate closely with other software teams
• Create tools for improving our development processes (e.g. code generators)
• Perform integration and acceptance testing

Desired skills and qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or similar
• At least 5 to 10 years of professional experience required
• Extensive experience in Software architecture, design and development
• Experience in designing & implementing distributed systems
• Experience in using / developing IT Infrastructure related projects (e.g. Terraform, Nomad, Kubernetes, etc)
• Excellent C++ skills, Other programming languages / Frameworks are welcome (Qt / QML, Go, Ansible, Python...)
• English negotiation level
