Owen Daniels is recruiting in Germany for a Project Manager for Utility-Scale Battery Storage (BESS). The role is permanent, full time, with hybrid or remote work and travel to project sites; salary ranges from €70,000 to €130,000 plus a performance bonus, depending on experience.

You will own grid-scale projects end-to-end, coordinating grid operators, permitting authorities, EPC and O&M contractors, equipment suppliers and internal teams, with potential to lead a project team as the portfolio

Aufgaben

• Own grid-scale battery storage projects from initial site assessment through development, construction, commissioning and handover
• Manage the grid connection process end to end, working directly with distribution and transmission network operators
• Drive the permitting process with local authorities and external partners
• Lead contract negotiation and management across EPC, O&M, equipment supply, grid connection and land agreements
• Coordinate technical, commercial and legal workstreams across each project
• Oversee construction and commissioning activities on site, including installation, integration and successful handover into operation
• Manage schedules, budgets and risk across the project lifecycle, and take ownership of resolving issues as they arise

About the company:

I am recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing European clean energy business developing and delivering grid-connected battery storage projects across Germany and wider Europe. The business combines battery technology, software and energy trading, and is expanding into cell technology and production.

They are early stage and well backed, with a leadership team drawn from some of the largest names in battery manufacturing and energy. The team is currently around 35 people and is planned to grow to more than 60 over the next 12 months, so whoever takes this role will be joining early enough to shape how the project function is built rather than inheriting somebody else's process.

Projects are Europe-wide, with the immediate focus on the German market.

About the role

You will take ownership of grid-scale battery storage projects across their full lifecycle. That means starting at site identification and grid connection, carrying the project through permitting and contracting, running delivery through construction and commissioning, and handing over into market operations.

This is a hands-on role with genuine end-to-end responsibility. You will be the person coordinating grid operators, permitting authorities, EPC and O&M contractors, equipment suppliers and internal technical and commercial teams. As the project portfolio grows there is a clear route into building and leading a project team.
