Job Description Summary – Who We Are & What We Do

We are a global life sciences solutions provider, delivering agile clinical trial and diagnostic services that help our customers navigate the complexities of life‑changing innovation. With over 40 years of experience in custom kitting and clinical trial support, our Clinical Services team combines deep technical and regulatory expertise with a strong track record of delivering high‑quality products and tailored solutions that our customers trust. Based in Kriftel, the EPL Archives Facility team supports the reliable and compliant operation of critical infrastructure within a GLP/GxP‑regulated environment, including biological sample storage, regulated archives, and temperature‑controlled areas. Our purpose‑built facilities are designed to meet strict biorepository and audit requirements, while supporting operational continuity, safety, and regulatory compliance through effective maintenance, monitoring, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement activities.

How will you make an impact & Requirement Role Mission

As a Senior Facility Specialist, you will ensure the reliable, compliant, and efficient operation of all facility systems, taking technical ownership of critical infrastructure across the site. You will play a key role in maintaining operational continuity, supporting regulatory compliance, and driving improvements in performance, safety, and cost efficiency. Acting as a technical expert within the team, you will lead maintenance activities, support cross‑functional collaboration, and contribute to strategic decisions that enhance long‑term facility performance in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full technical ownership of facility systems including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, safety systems, temperature‑controlled environments, and critical utilities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring high‑quality execution and minimal operational disruption.
  • Monitor system performance, proactively identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GxP, GLP, ISO).
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert during audits and inspections, ensuring full readiness and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage external vendors and service providers, ensuring service quality and performance standards are met.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions to recurring technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure documentation is complete, compliant, and audit‑ready.
  • Collaborate with Quality, EHS, and Operations to support risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Lead or contribute to projects such as equipment installation, facility upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Conduct facility inspections and ensure timely follow‑up and issue resolution.
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and critical supplies to ensure operational continuity.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior team members.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Support cost control initiatives by monitoring performance and identifying efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in on‑call support as required (24/7).
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a highly experienced and proactive facility professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to take ownership of complex building systems. You are comfortable working independently in a regulated environment, while also acting as a trusted technical advisor to the wider team. This role suits someone who thrives on solving problems, driving improvements, and ensuring operational excellence.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Technical secondary education or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. electrical, mechanical, building services engineering).
  • HVAC or/and building systems certifications (e.g. VDI 6022 or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in facility maintenance, building engineering, or technical operations, ideally within regulated environments (e.g. GxP, pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory).
  • Strong technical expertise in building systems, including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, critical utilities, and temperature‑controlled environments.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in coordinating and managing vendors and service providers.
  • Leading or supporting technical and facility‑related projects.
  • Operating successfully within regulated and audited environments.
  • Solid understanding of compliance and regulatory standards, including GLP/GxP, ISO standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Strong technical problem‑solving capability, including root‑cause analysis and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high level of ownership, decision‑making responsibility, and accountability.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • Experience maintaining accurate technical documentation, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, support, and share knowledge with less experienced colleagues.
