Job summary

CATL in Arnstadt, Thuringia, is seeking a Senior Engineer Quality - Project Quality Management to strengthen our ESS and automotive projects. You will act as the main quality contact for customers and coordinate quality activities across the project lifecycle.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or related field, 5+ years in quality roles, and fluent English and German. Travel internationally is expected; an annual bonus and pension benefits are part of the package.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main quality contact for customers in commercial vehicle and ESS projects.
• Interface between customers and internal departments; drive quality topics across the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and coordinate quality-related documents for customer tenders and project development.
• Review and negotiate quality-related contract clauses and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead quality activities during design, development and project implementation, including design reviews and Q-planning.
• Monitor and lead site quality activities; review quality records and coordinate outsourced quality personnel.
• Coordinate site acceptance, TOP documentation, grid acceptance and customer walkdowns.
• Independently lead the analysis and resolution of complex quality issues with root-cause analysis.

Your Responsibilites and Tasks:

• Act as the main quality contact for customers in commercial vehicle and ESS projects and maintain strong customer relationships
• Serve as the key interface between customers and internal departments and drive quality topics throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and coordinate quality-related documents and requirements for customer tenders and project development
• Review and negotiate quality-related contract clauses and customer-specific requirements
• Lead quality activities during design, development and project implementation, including design reviews, quality planning and FQP preparation
• Monitor and lead site quality activities, including quality witnessing, review of quality records and coordination of outsourced quality personnel
• Coordinate site acceptance, TOP documentation, grid acceptance and customer walkdowns to ensure smooth project delivery
• Independently lead the analysis and resolution of complex quality issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
• Drive cross-functional problem solving and continuous quality improvement in an international project environment

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in ESS, customer quality, project quality, supplier quality or a related field, preferably in the automotive, battery or energy industry
• Proven experience in direct customer interaction, handling customer requirements, complaints and escalations
• Strong knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, FMEA, SPC and structured problem-solving methods
• Good understanding of quality management systems and customer-specific requirements; IATF 16949 and VDA knowledge is an advantage
• Strong project management, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to independently drive quality topics and cross-functional problem solving
• Fluent in English and German; Chinese is an advantage
• Willingness to travel internationally
