Job summary

CATL in Germany seeks a Senior Engineer - Customer Quality Assurance (m/f/d) to ensure highest quality standards, handle OEM quality issues after SOP, and build strong customer relationships in automotive. You will be the main contact for customers on quality matters and coordinate with internal teams.

Requirements include a technical degree, several years in quality management, knowledge of APQP, PPAP/PPF, FMEA, ISO/IATF16949, and fluent German and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field or comparable training.
• Several years of professional experience in quality management, ideally in automotive supply or direct OEM environment.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP/PPF, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on quality matters post SOP and B-sample delivery.
• Ensure timely responses to quality issues to OEMs, managing inquiries, rework, and sorting.
• Communicate customer requirements to internal quality teams and coordinate issue resolution.
• Collaborate with project teams to analyze and resolve field issues at customer sites.
• Coordinate return and disposition of rejected parts and monitor safety-related incidents.
• Assist customers with assembly processes and monitor product status from cells to packs.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required by project needs.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on quality-related matters after Start of Production (SOP) and B-sample delivery
• Ensure timely and effective responses to quality issues to OEMs, including managing inquiries, rework, and sorting activities
• Establish and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
• Accurately communicate customer-specific requirements to the internal quality core team
• Collaborate with internal project quality teams to analyze and resolve issues occurring at customer production sites and in the field
• Coordinate the return and disposition of rejected parts, working closely with customers on critical quality concerns
• Provide guidance to customers on proper assembly processes and monitor the assembly status of products including cells, modules, packs, battery systems, etc.
• Manage and respond to safety-related incidents in a timely and structured manner
• Support the resolution of key customer complaints in international markets
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel as required by business needs

Our requirements:

• A bachelor’s or master´s degree in a technical field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering) or comparable technical training
• Several years of professional experience in quality management, ideally in the automotive supply industry or in a direct OEM environment
• In-depth knowledge of automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP/PPF, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D methodology
• Experience in complaint management, root cause analysis, and developing corrective actions
• Proficiency in quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and customer-specific OEM standards
• Knowledge of battery product manufacturing technologies
• Strong ability to serve as the primary point of contact for OEMs and to communicate complex technical issues clearly
• Experience in establishing and maintaining long-term customer relationships
• Confident demeanor during escalations, audits, and technical discussions
• Fluent in spoken and written German and English due to the international nature of the role
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, particularly regarding safety-related incidents
• Ability to evaluate technical failure patterns, coordinate recalls, and implement corrective actions in a structured manner
• Close collaboration with project quality, development, production, and suppliers
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by project needs
• Ability to handle high pressure and demonstrate flexibility when dealing with urgent customer inquiries, experience in managing critical quality issues and escalation management
