Zusammenfassung

Toyota Racing is seeking an Engineer Performance & Simulation (m/f/d) to optimize race car performance and support road car projects. You will analyse data from offline simulations, driver-in-loop tests, and track data to drive continuous improvements across Le Mans Hypercar, GT3 and road programs.

The role requires strong analytical skills, teamwork, and a PhD may be an advantage. Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams and a 500-strong motorsport-focused workforce.

Qualifikationen

• Academic degree in mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science or related field; a PhD may be an advantage.
• Strong proficiency with Python and MATLAB scripting.
• Knowledge in Vehicle Dynamics, Tyres, Suspension, Aerodynamics or Control Systems.
• Experience with vehicle dynamics simulation software.
• Proficient with time-series data viewer software such as ATLAS or Wintax.
• Knowledge of signal processing theory and techniques.
• Familiar with optimisation theory and techniques.
• Experience with AI and machine learning may be an advantage.

Aufgaben

• Analyse simulation results from offline simulation tools, driver-in-loop simulator and track data to evaluate vehicle performance
• Identify areas for improvement and recommend design or process modifications
• Conduct investigative studies using analytical or simulation approach to enhance vehicle performance
• Validate simulation models by comparing predictions with real-world data to ensure correlation accuracy
• Develop and implement metrics (KPIs) to support performance analysis optimisation
• Apply and develop in-house optimization techniques to enhance vehicle performance and reliability
• Regularly communicate findings and recommendations of simulation and analytical studies with clearly written documentation including assumptions, methodologies and results
• Contribute to the development and improvement of internal processes and methodologies while contributing to vehicle development through evaluation of new vehicle concepts. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices

As an Engineer Performance & Simulation (m/f/d), you will play a key role in the field of race car performance optimisation and participate in road car projects that facilitate technology transfer from race to road cars. The successful candidate will:

• have an academic degree in mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science or a related field; A Ph.D. may be an advantage
• show a high proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and MATLAB is a requirement
• display knowledge of one or more of the following areas of vehicle science: Vehicle Dynamics, Tyres, Suspension, Aerodynamics or Control Systems
• have experience with vehicle dynamics simulation software
• be proficient with time-series data viewer software such as ATLAS or Wintax
• display knowledge and experience of signal processing theory and techniques
• be familiarwith optimisation theory and techniques
