Zusammenfassung

Muuv GmbH in München is seeking a Senior Avionics & Systems Engineer to lead the design and evolution of avionics and electrical systems across test platforms. You will define architectures, lead integration, and establish SiL/HiL test infrastructure, with growth into a technical leadership role over time.

The role requires 5+ years in avionics, strong power distribution and EMC knowledge, and experience with avionics interfaces and safety standards.

Qualifikationen

  • Degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in avionics or aerospace electronics.
  • Proven track record in designing and integrating avionics architectures for aircraft or complex UAVs.
  • Strong understanding of DC power distribution, protection, redundancy, and EMI/EMC fundamentals.
  • Experience with open and/or commercial autopilot ecosystems.
  • Experience with common avionics interfaces (CAN, UART, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, harness assembly, and lab debugging.
  • Familiarity with safety- and requirements-driven development (e.g. ED-79, ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254).
  • Comfortable in a Linux- and Git-based development environment; basic scripting (Python/bash) is an advantage.
  • Very good English; German is a plus.
  • Experience with EASA regulations, SORA, and CS-LSA/CS-23 or national UAV approval processes.
  • Experience with environmental/testing standards (e.g. DO-160) or qualification of COTS equipment.
  • Experience supporting systems as they move from early prototypes into more mature operational or commercial use.
  • Interest in growing into a principal/lead avionics role or building a small specialist team over time.

Aufgaben

  • Lead the definition of avionics and electrical architectures for small UAVs, an LSA-based testbed, and our future 600–800 kg UAV.
  • Select, integrate, and validate avionics components (flight control, GNSS/INS, air data, radios/telemetry, transponder/ADS-B, power distribution, logging).
  • Own wiring and harnesses architecture, including schematics, labelling, and EMC/ESD considerations.
  • Establish and maintain SiL/HiL rigs to verify avionics functions and interfaces against the evolving autonomy stack.
  • Implement and verify safety mechanisms (failsafes, independent emergency paths, health monitoring) that can scale to higher SAIL operations.
  • Lead the definition of interfaces between avionics, onboard mission computers, and ground systems.
  • Support and progressively lead avionics aspects of ground and flight tests, and ensure findings are fed back into design and documentation.
  • Contribute to the systems engineering backbone that will later support qualification/certification and fleet operations.

Jobbeschreibung

Muuv is an early-stage aerospace company building the next generation of autonomous aircraft for logistics and defence. We're a small, focused team of engineers and operators united by a common goal: to design, build, and fly unmanned aircraft that work reliably, affordably, and at scale. We believe that the future of aviation will be autonomous, and we're building the systems to make that happen.

Role overview

As Senior Avionics & Systems Engineer, you will lead the design and evolution of our avionics and electrical systems across all test platforms. In the first 12–18 months, you will focus on defining architectures, leading integration efforts, and establishing our SiL/HiL and test infrastructure. Over the medium term (years 2–4), this role is expected to grow into a technical leadership position that steers system architecture, supports certification activities, and potentially builds and leads a small avionics/systems team.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the definition of avionics and electrical architectures for small UAVs, an LSA-based testbed, and our future 600–800 kg UAV
  • Select, integrate, and validate avionics components (flight control, GNSS/INS, air data, radios/telemetry, transponder/ADS-B, power distribution, logging)
  • Own wiring and harnesses architecture, including schematics, labelling, and EMC/ESD considerations
  • Establish and maintain SiL/HiL rigs to verify avionics functions and interfaces against the evolving autonomy stack
  • Implement and verify safety mechanisms (failsafes, independent emergency paths, health monitoring) that can scale to higher SAIL operations
  • Lead the definition of interfaces between avionics, onboard mission computers, and ground systems
  • Support and progressively lead avionics aspects of ground and flight tests, and ensure findings are fed back into design and documentation
  • Contribute to the systems engineering backbone that will later support qualification/certification and fleet operations
Profile
  • Degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar
  • 5+ years of professional experience in avionics or aerospace electronics

What we offer
  • Ownership of core avionics architecture for a new class of autonomous aircraft
  • A small, senior team where your work has immediate impact
  • Competitive compensation with equity participation
  • The chance to shape a company—and an industry—from the ground up
