Jobbeschreibung

Robotics Software Engineer (Autonomy & Flight Systems)
About Muuv

Muuv is an early-stage aerospace company building the next generation of autonomous aircraft for logistics and defence. We're a small, focused team of engineers and operators united by a common goal: to design, build, and fly unmanned aircraft that work reliably, affordably, and at scale. We believe that the future of aviation will be autonomous, and we're building the systems to make that happen.

Role overview

As Robotics Software Engineer, you will lead the development of key components of our autonomy and flight software stack. In the first 12–18 months, you will focus on core mission logic, interfaces to flight control, and SiL/HiL tooling that runs consistently from simulation to flight hardware. Over time (years 3–4), the role is expected to grow into a technical lead position for parts of the autonomy architecture, with substantial influence on how the stack evolves towards industrial and eventually certifiable systems.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the design and implementation of autonomy- and flight-related software (mission logic, guidance, navigation, control interfaces, safety logic) for fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs
  • Develop ROS 2- and PX4-based software that runs both in simulation and on onboard computers (e.g. Jetson-class) in a resource-constrained, operationally robust manner
  • Build and evolve SiL/HiL environments that combine simulation with real flight controllers and avionics
  • Integrate and interface with sensors (cameras, optical flow, GNSS/INS, range sensors, payloads) in a way that can be carried forward from surrogate platforms to the larger UAV
  • Implement and refine mission behaviours and contingency logic for staged demo flights and progressively more complex operations
  • Develop tools for log analysis and geospatial / operational support (for example, scripts that assist with SORA-based air and ground risk assessments)
  • Drive software quality through tests, reviews, CI/CD, and clear documentation, ensuring the stack remains maintainable as the system and team grow
  • Collaborate with avionics and mechanical engineers to ensure software/hardware co-design
Profile
  • Degree in robotics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in robotics or autonomous systems software, ideally with flying systems
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Practical experience with ROS / ROS 2 and PX4 (or comparable open flight control ecosystems)
  • Solid understanding of core robotics / flight concepts: coordinate frames, state estimation, guidance and control, and basic flight dynamics
  • Experience with simulation tools and workflows (e.g. Gazebo, PX4 SITL, or similar)
  • Comfortable with Linux, Git, and modern software engineering practices
  • Very good English; German is a plus
  • Experience deploying software on embedded edge platforms (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson) and dealing with real-time/performance constraints
  • Experience with computer vision or perception (OpenCV, depth cameras, tracking, optical flow)
  • Familiarity with geospatial data and airspace / geozone concepts, especially in the context of SORA and operational planning
  • Experience integrating or interfacing with commercial-grade avionics
  • Exposure to aviation/UAV regulation and operations
  • Interest in growing into a technical lead role for parts of the autonomy stack
What we offer
  • Ownership of the autonomy stack for a new class of unmanned aircraft
  • A small, senior team where your work has immediate impact
  • Competitive compensation with equity participation
  • The chance to shape a company—and an industry—from the ground up
