Job summary

Henkel is seeking an Automation Engineer to evaluate and implement Industry 4.0/5.0 solutions across sites in Germany. You will define scalable tech solutions, coordinate cross-functional teams, and produce comprehensive project documentation including budgets and timelines.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial automation, strong project management, and knowledge of cybersecurity in manufacturing. English and German fluency are essential; EU travel around 20–30% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation and digital transformation projects.
• Strong knowledge of Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies and standards.
• Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and regulatory compliance in manufacturing environments.
• Fluent in English and German.
• Willingness to travel EU-wide (~20-30%).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and propose automation solutions aligned with Industry 4.0/5.0 to enable autonomous operation.
• Define scalable technology solutions for rollout across multiple sites with cross-functional teams.
• Create documentation for automation projects including budget, schedule, and resources.
• Complete detailed design and construction; organize commissioning and start-up.
• Monitor and report actual cost and progress against budget and plan.
• Build relationships with technology partners and vendors for long-term automation goals.
• Capture lessons learned and drive improvements to automation standards.
• Ensure automation standards meet industry regulations and cybersecurity requirements.
• Act as a change agent for digital adoption and human-machine collaboration.

• Create comprehensive documentation for Automation projects’ submission and execution, including budget, schedule and resource planning, in line with corporate requirements
• Complete detailed design and construction accordingly, organize commissioning and start-up
• Monitor, control and report actual cost and progress, compared to the budget and plan
• Build strategic relationships with technology partners and vendors to support long-term automation goals

What makes you a good fit

• Strong knowledge of Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies and standards
