Job summary

Optimus Search Limited is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a cutting-edge data centre development in Frankfurt, Germany. The role is a 12-month rolling freelance contract starting 2 November 2026, with on-site work in Frankfurt and competitive hourly or daily rates.

You will manage budgets, BoQs, procurement, and commercial reporting within an international team, with strong emphasis on cost control, NEC/FIDIC contract familiarity, and fluent English.

Qualifications

Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Cutting-Edge Data Centre Project | Frankfurt

Contract: 12-Month Rolling Freelance Contract

Start Date: 2nd November 2026

Rate: Competitive – Dependent on Experience

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a cutting-edge, large-scale data centre development in Frankfurt, Germany.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major mission-critical infrastructure project, working alongside an international team of engineering, construction and commercial professionals.

The assignment offers an initial 12-month rolling freelance contract, with strong potential for long-term extensions.

Previous data centre experience is preferred, although Quantity Surveyors with a strong background in large-scale industrial, MEP or complex construction projects are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, cost forecasts and commercial reporting throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Prepare and review bills of quantities (BoQs), cost estimates and subcontractor valuations.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, tender assessments and contract administration.
• Manage variations, change orders, payment applications and commercial claims.
• Monitor project expenditure, identify financial risks and implement effective cost-control measures.
• Produce monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete assessments.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and commercial stakeholders.
• Support commercial negotiations, subcontractor settlements and final account agreements.
• Ensure contractual compliance and maintain accurate commercial documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Engineer or Commercial Manager.
• Strong commercial experience on large-scale construction, MEP, industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Solid understanding of procurement, cost management and subcontractor administration.
• Experience with NEC, FIDIC or similar construction contracts advantageous.
• Strong Excel, reporting and analytical capabilities.
• Fluent English essential – German is not required.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international construction environment.
• Available to start on 2nd November 2026.
• Willingness to work on-site in Frankfurt.
