Job summary

Prysmian is seeking a Project Environmental Specialist based in Düsseldorf to support environmental aspects across proposals and projects within the Transmission Business Unit.

You will prepare environmental documentation, conduct ISO 14001 audits, manage risk, and ensure compliance with German regulations while coordinating with clients and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • ISO 14001 lead or internal auditor certification is required.
  • 3 years of experience in environmental management within construction, infrastructure, industrial or energy projects.
  • Good knowledge of German environmental regulation.
  • Willingness to travel 25–30% of working time.
  • Flexibility to work from different locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental aspects in proposal phase and during project execution/completion.
  • Prepare project environmental documentation (e.g., waste management plan, construction environmental management plan, spill management plan).
  • Assist project teams in dealing with clients on environmental issues.
  • Ensure all HSE activities at project level comply with laws, client requirements, ISO 14001, and company standards (including suppliers).
  • Develop environmental deliverables from environmental impact assessment, permits, and licenses requirements.
  • Assist Risk Management in identifying environmental risks and maintaining the environmental aspect register (e.g., HAZID).
  • Conduct environmental accidents/incidents investigations and analyze statistics for improvements.
  • Conduct ISO 14001 environmental and legal audits (internal and external) and follow-up actions.
  • Endorse activities to enhance biodiversity at project level.
  • Review environmental KPIs including subcontractors’ performance.
  • Check environmental requirements in contracts, including permitting.
  • Review permit requirements and support permitting processes.
  • Verify fleet’s environmental needs and MARPOL-related considerations.

We are looking for a Project Environmental Specialist to join our Transmission Business Unit. The position will be based in Düsseldorf, Germany.

In This Role You Will
  • Support environmental aspects in proposal phase and during project execution/completion.
  • Prepare project environmental documentation, like waste management plan, construction environmental management plan, spill management plan, etc.
  • Assist company functions and project teams in dealing with Clients in all environmental issues.
  • Verify that all HSE activities at project level are carried on in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, client requirements, international standards, ISO 14001 and company Environmental and Safety Standards, including suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Prepare analysis of the requirements identified in environmental impact assessment, permit and licenses and to develop all environmental deliverable required at project level.
  • Assist project team in Risk Management process for the identification of environmental risks and environmental aspect register (i.e. HAZID).
  • Conduct environmental accidents/incidents investigation, including near miss, and to carry out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and lessons learned and suggesting improvement plans at a project level.
  • Conduct ISO 14001 environmental and legal audits both internal and external (tender and project phases) and relevant follow up.Help in developing strategies to innovate and improve environmental performances.
  • Endorse activities to enhance biodiversity at project level.
  • Review Environmental KPIs at project level, including subcontractors’ performance and their evaluation.
  • Check environmental related requirements in contracts, including permitting.
  • Review environmental permit requirements and support the permitting process.
  • Verify fleet’s environmental needs and Marpol requirements, with a particular focus to oil consumption and waste and chemical management.
You Are The Right Fit If You Have/are
  • Fluency in English
  • ISO 14001 lead or internal auditor certification
  • 3 years experience in environmental management within construction, infrastructure, industrial or energy projects
  • Good knowledge of German environmental regulation
  • Available to travel (25-30% of working time)
  • Flexibility to work from different locations, according to business needs
  • Nice to have: knowledge of offshore regulation and sustainability management
