Northumberland County Council is seeking an experienced transport professional to lead the development of transport strategies and policies. You will provide expert advice to senior officers and partners, develop business cases and investment proposals, and manage major transport programmes across the county.
The role sits in the Strategic Transport team within the Transport and Environment Directorate, with hybrid working (home/office/site visits) and occasional evening meetings.
This role is offered on a 2 year fixed term contract and is central to how the Council develops delivers programmes that enhance quality of life across Northumberland. You'll be an experienced transport professional who can translate policy into delivery, influence decision-making and manage complex programmes.
You’ll be part of the Strategic Transport team within the Transport and Environment Directorate. The team develops and delivers transport policy, strategy and projects across the county, working closely with councillors, communities, government departments and external partners. We're looking for a motivated professional with a strong understanding of transport planning and policy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels. You'll need to be confident managing projects, programmes, budgets and contracts, and skilled at presenting technical information clearly. Based at County Hall, Morpeth, with hybrid working arrangements (home/office/site visits) and occasional evening meetings.
