Job summary

DKV Mobility is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to own the SmartRisk Engine and lead end-to-end ML initiatives from Ratingen in a 60/40 hybrid model.

You will design, train, calibrate, validate, deploy, and monitor production ML models, build scalable pipelines, and implement robust MLOps with CI/CD, registries, and data quality controls.

You will mentor data scientists, partner with stakeholders, and help shape risk strategies across markets.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (ideally 7+ years) in Data Science and Machine Learning with production-grade models.
• Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Deep knowledge of ML methods, calibration, explainability, monitoring, governance.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of the SmartRisk Engine driving onboarding decisions.
• Design, train, calibrate, validate, deploy, and improve ML models.
• Monitor model performance and drift across markets and segments; drive improvements.
• Build scalable end-to-end ML pipelines with testing, versioning, and deployment.
• Establish and drive robust MLOps standards, including CI/CD, monitoring, model registries, and data quality controls.
• Mentor data scientists and provide technical leadership to stakeholders.

As part of our team, you will take on the following responsibilities:

• You take end-to-end ownership of the SmartRisk Engine, the group-wide core rating and probability-of-default model that drives onboarding and offboarding decisions in Credit Management.
• You design, train, calibrate, validate, deploy, and continuously improve machine learning models to ensure high business impact and reliability.
• You monitor model performance, conduct drift analyses across markets and customer segments, and drive improvements to both models and risk strategies.
• You build and enhance scalable end-to-end ML pipelines, including testing, versioning, documentation, and production deployment.
• You establish and drive best-practice MLOps standards, including CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, model registries, data quality controls, and incident management.
• You act as a trusted advisor to management and business stakeholders while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to data scientists.

What makes you stand out

• You bring extensive experience (ideally 7+ years) in Data Science and Machine Learning, working with production-grade models.
• You have strong expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• You possess deep knowledge of machine learning methods, model calibration, explainability, monitoring, and model governance.
• You have hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI solutions, including custom GPT applications.
• You have a proven track record of independently owning business-critical models throughout their full lifecycle, including validation and governance.
• You are an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, capable of bridging business and technology teams effectively.
