The Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) invites applications for a Postdoc (m/f/d) to work on the characterization of semiconducting oxide layers, with a focus on Ga2O3. The project is funded by BMFTR and collaborates with a German industrial partner.
The successful candidate will grow oxide films by MOVPE and perform comprehensive structural and electrical characterization. We offer a fixed-term position (until 30 September 2028) under TVöD Bund E13 with standard benefits.
The Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) is a leading research institution in the field of science & technology as well as service & transfer of crystalline materials. Our goal is to enable solutions for pressing societal challenges (e.g. communication, artificial intelligence, climate protection, health, etc.) through modern electronic & photonic technologies. The work covers the entire spectrum from basic and applied research to pre-industrial development and is carried out in cooperation with national and international partners from universities, academies and industry. The institute is part of the Forschungsverbund Berlin (https://www.fv-berlin.de/) and a member of the Leibniz Association (https://www.leibniz-gemeinschaft.de). You can find more details on the institute webpage: https://www.ikz-berlin.de.
The Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung is currently looking for a
Postdoc (m/f/d)
for the topic:
“Characterization of semiconducting oxide layers”.
- Internal Job Posting -
Epitaxial layers are the key functional parts in electronic and opto-electronic devices. Characterization of the grown layers with respect to structure, defects and electrical properties is a major part in the research of process optimization in the growth of oxide layers. The focus will be on Ga2O3, an emerging material of high interest for high-power applications. The optimization of the MOCVD process in conjunction with building a digital twin is the topic of a BMFTR funded project together with the industrial partner AIXTRON.
For information about the project please contact:

Application deadline: August 24, 2026.
We are looking forward to receiving your application!
