Job summary

Barsan Global Logistics in Germany seeks a logistics professional to manage international road freight operations from booking to final delivery. You will coordinate shipments across borders, ensuring timely updates and compliant documentation.

You will collaborate with transport partners, customs brokers, and customers to maintain accurate records and optimize shipment profitability, costs, and service quality.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end international road freight import and export operations from booking to final delivery.
• Coordinate road transport shipments including collection, loading, departure, transit, border crossings, customs clearance, and final delivery.
• Communicate daily with transport companies, subcontractors, customs brokers, warehouses, overseas agents, suppliers, and customers.
• Prepare and maintain transport and shipping documentation (CMR, invoices, packing lists, delivery notes, customs documents).
• Monitor shipments and provide customers with updates on status, ETA, and delays.
• Coordinate with customs brokers and authorities for smooth import/export and cross-border processes.
• Follow up on collection and delivery schedules, PODs, delays, and issues.
• Enter and verify supplier invoices, transport costs, subcontractor charges, and expenses per shipment file.
• Prepare customer invoices ensuring freight charges and add-on services are billed accurately and timely.
• Monitor revenue, costs, and P&L on a shipment-by-shipment basis from file opening to closing.
• Review shipment profitability and address cost discrepancies or unexpected expenses.

Job description

• Manage end-to-end international road freight import and export operations, from transport booking and file opening through final delivery and file closing.
• Coordinate road transport shipments, including collection, loading, departure, transit, border crossings, customs clearance, and final delivery.
• Communicate and coordinate daily with transport companies, subcontractors, customs brokers, warehouses, overseas agents, suppliers, and customers.
• Prepare, review, and maintain all required transport and shipping documentation, including CMR consignment notes, commercial invoices, packing lists, delivery notes, and customs documents.
• Monitor shipments proactively and provide customers with accurate and timely updates regarding shipment status, estimated arrival times, and potential delays.
• Coordinate with customs brokers and relevant authorities to support smooth and compliant import, export, and cross-border transportation processes.
• Follow up on collection and delivery schedules, proof of delivery (POD), transport delays, and operational issues.
• Enter and verify supplier invoices, transport costs, subcontractor charges, and additional operational expenses for each shipment file.
• Prepare customer invoices and ensure that all applicable freight charges and additional services are billed accurately and on time.
• Monitor revenue, costs, and profit and loss (P&L) on a shipment-by-shipment basis, from file opening through file closing.
• Review shipment profitability, identify cost discrepancies or unexpected expenses, and take the necessary corrective actions.
• Ensure that all operational and financial information is accurately entered and maintained in the transport management system (TMS).
• Follow up on outstanding invoices, missing supporting documents, unbilled services, and open cost items before closing shipment files.
• Resolve operational issues, transport delays, documentation discrepancies, customs-related problems, and billing differences proactively.
• Maintain complete and organized shipment records in accordance with company procedures and applicable German and EU regulations.
• Work closely with operations, accounting, sales, and customer service teams to ensure efficient workflows, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in road freight forwarding, international transport logistics, or a similar operational role is preferred.
• Practical experience in international road freight import and/or export operations.
• Good understanding of international road transportation procedures, CMR documentation, Incoterms, customs clearance, and cross-border logistics.
• Familiarity with German and EU customs procedures and transport documentation is an advantage.
• Experience with transport cost entry, supplier and subcontractor invoices, customer billing, and shipment-level profit and loss tracking is strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate operational and financial records.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipment files simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, transport partners, subcontractors, and international agents.
• Proficiency in MS Office and transport management systems (TMS) or freight forwarding software.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• German language skills are an advantage and may be required depending on operational responsibilities.
