Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Friedrichshafen is offering a Master’s Thesis position in Structural Engineering. You will build FE models of satellite structures, run static/dynamic analyses, and develop analysis tools. The role emphasizes independent work and teamwork in an international setting.

The position is situated at the Immenstaad am Bodensee site with a 6-month duration, starting April 2027. English is mandatory; German is a plus, and collaboration across aerospace domains is

Qualifications

• Enrolled Master student (d/f/m) within aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or similar.
• Solid knowledge of the Finite-Element Method (FEM), structural mechanics, and thermo-elasticity.
• Practical experience with FE solvers (preferably MSC Nastran, OptiStruct) and preprocessors (HyperMesh).
• Some experience in numerical structural optimization or with design-exploration tools (such as Siemens HEEDS, Altair HyperStudy) is advantageous.
• Good programming skills in Python, along with confident use of Linux environments and Bash scripting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluent English is mandatory; German would be an asset.
• Good communication skills required.

• Perform structural assessments by means of hand calculations.
