Job summary

You will advise regional leadership, shape strategy, and manage material regional contracts, including distribution and tenders, while coordinating with global operations and compliance teams.

You will lead a dispersed EMEA legal team, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with corporate policies. Fluent English is required; German is valued.

• 15+ years of relevant legal experience including in-house multi-country work.

Commercial Legal Director EMEA (m/f/d)

Lead the EMEA Commercial Legal agenda and serve as a principal legal adviser to regional leadership. Partner with EMEA leaders early in the development of business strategy and significant commercial and operational decisions. The role reports to the VP, Global Commercial Legal and operates with meaningful autonomy within company policies and delegated authority.

Your Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal adviser to EMEA leadership and country teams.
• Engage early to help shape regional strategy and significant decisions involving growth, go-to-market and distribution models, market entry, product launches, pricing, promotions, strategic accounts and business transformation.
• Lead legal support for material regional contracts, including distribution and dealer arrangements, public tenders, strategic accounts, services, software and digital solutions, and partnerships with dental professionals and institutions.
• Identify and assess material legal risks across EMEA.
• Work with Regulatory, Compliance and Ethics, Privacy, Intellectual Property, Operations Legal, Employment, Tax and Corporate Legal on matters within their areas of expertise.
• Oversee significant EMEA commercial disputes and administrative matters, including strategy, outside counsel, financial exposure and reporting.
• Lead, coach and develop the geographically dispersed EMEA legal team.
• Lead the team through a high volume of fast-moving matters while maintaining quality, responsiveness and appropriate escalation.
• Contribute EMEA insight to global Commercial Legal priorities and common standards.
• Advise regional Procurement and business teams on purchasing, supply and service agreements in EMEA, including drafting, negotiation and related contractual risks, in coordination with Global Operations Legal.
• Independently assess complex legal, commercial and operational risks, including matters where there is no clear precedent.
• Provide clear recommendations, identify practical alternatives, challenge proposals constructively and determine when specialist input or escalation is required.

Your Profile:

• Law degree and qualification to practice in an EMEA jurisdiction or equivalent professional standing.
• 15 or more years of relevant legal experience, including substantial in-house work and multi-country EMEA responsibility.
• Experience leading lawyers and complex cross-border legal work, developing talent and working effectively across different cultures, time zones and reporting lines.
• Strong record advising international sales organizations and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Able to translate legal issues into practical choices, explain risk in business terms and challenge constructively.
• Familiarity with digital products, distribution networks, public procurement and interactions with healthcare professionals is valuable.
• Experience in medical devices, healthcare or another regulated EMEA business is preferred.
• Fluent professional English is required. German is highly valued, and proficiency in additional EMEA languages is considered an advantage.
