A leading technology investor in Berlin is seeking a Legal Counsel to support their investment and divestiture activities globally. The successful candidate will help build the legal framework within the organization, provide transactional legal support, and advise on various legal matters. Ideal candidates will be qualified lawyers with strong negotiation skills and at least 1.5 years of experience in a relevant legal field, excited about technology investing and entrepreneurial challenges.
// YOUR MISSION AT PICUS
You will help build the legal department and framework at Picus in each of the jurisdictions in which we operate, including developing best practices in each region and standardizing investment documents and other agreements.
You will provide transactional legal support on Picus’ investments and divestitures across a wide range of industries and regions in close coordination with our investment team. This will include conducting due diligence, reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements and working with external legal counsel on the same.
You will provide legal support to our investment team with respect to portfolio companies and other investments, including reorganizations, financings and exits.
You will provide legal advice to other internal stakeholders such as the Finance and HR teams on a variety of legal, regulatory and compliance matters, as well as on-going operational matters, including fund related matters, employment issues and other matters.
You will support Picus' portfolio companies as a sparring partner for any legal related aspects.
You will develop and build relationships with external law firms and other professional advisors.
The geographic focus is global, but with a significant focus on Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Latin America and Asia.

You have strong communication and organizational skills and spend superior attention to detail.
You are eager to learn about new things.
You are a team player with an exceptional work ethic and have the ability to balance a number of transactions at the same time and prioritize matters in order to ensure that Picus closes transactions quickly and within the expected time frame.
You are a qualified lawyer with outstanding qualifications (ideally two state exams (Staatsexamen), at least “fully satisfying” (“vollbefriedigend”), or equivalent, e.g. JD from top law school and bar exam) and have at least 1.5 years of legal experience at a top law firm (venture capital, private equity, M&A or general corporate law) or a venture capital fund.
You have experience in negotiating and drafting venture capital and/or private equity investment and technology transaction documents and, potentially, helping with fund management.
You have strong written and oral communication skills to, among other things, negotiate transactions and keep relevant stakeholders informed.
You are fluent in German and English, in both written and spoken form.
