Duties

• Operate large, complex riding lawn mower (e.g., multiple and independently controlled cutting decks) and/or specially designed riding mowers to mow in areas requiring attention to space and environment.


• Equipment characteristics include single function performance and components that are independently controlled through various hydraulic and/or mechanical devises.


• Performs tasks that require significant manual skill, very heavy physical effort, several steps, phases.


• Performs detailed procedures (e.g., preparing ground for sod, flowers and shrubs) following drawings, specifications while utilizing a knowledge of project requirements.

• Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and Special MWR events.


• This position has an occasional driving requirement in support of the activity. Must be willing to obtain and maintain both a valid USAREUR driver's license and a TMP license.


• This position also requires a physical. Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.


• Must be willing and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.


• Very heavy physical effort is required in operating large, riding mowers on grades and in areas with bushes, trees, and other visible obstacles that require significant maneuvering and level control.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following

• Work experience that includes knowledge and skill to operate and control mowers and similar type mowing equipment in areas that require constant attention to working space and environment (e.g., equipment height and width when working around trees, trenches, large potholes, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles).


• Operate various controls and levers to maneuver equipment (e.g., riding mower, hedge trimmer etc.) and change attach devices/ components (e.g. lift/lower, adjust, engage/disengage etc.


• Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.


• Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
