Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) seeks an Automotive Mechanic to identify faulty parts, decide on repair/replace actions, and install and calibrate systems to spec. Duties

• Identifies improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment.
• Determine whether parts should be cleaned or replaced. Install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed product.
• Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components.
• Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used.
• Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship.

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, some holidays, and Special MWR events.
• Must be willing and able to work at both Auto Skills Centers in Grafenwoehr and in Vilseck.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following

• Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move object over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices).

• Have work experience performing the identified duties.
• Be able to work independently.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

• Knowledge of Automotive Maintenance and Performance.
• Knowledge of Motorcycle Maintenance and Performance.
• Knowledge and experience with Fabrication and Welding.

• The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is local commuting area. The local commuting area defined as within 100 km (60 miles) of Grafenwoehr/Vilseck. PCS Costs

• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
