Job summary

sea chefs Human Resources Services GmbH is seeking a Junior Sanitation Officer to join the Mein Schiff Fleet. You will oversee hotel-area sanitation flows and ensure adherence to security, health, hygiene and environmental standards onboard cruise ships.

The role requires professional hygiene or sanitation training (or at least 3 years in a similar function), strong English and good German, and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Certified, qualified training in hygiene or sanitation management or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in sanitation/hygiene.
• Strong knowledge of health and hygiene regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with security, health, hygiene and environmental regulations such as USPH, VSP, HACCP, SQM and MARPOL.
• Lead Integrated Pest Management (IPM) including equipment orders.
• Conduct internal hygiene inspections and support external Public Health inspections.
• Prepare, implement and check logs and checklists for HACCP and SQM.
• Conduct sanitation/public health trainings for crew and staff.

Together with the Sanitation Officer you are:

• Overseeing of the compliance of all work flows within the hotel area with the agreed regulations regarding security, health, hygiene and environment such as USPH / VSP, Shipsan, HACCP, SQM and MARPOL.
• Overall responsibility for the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) including action taking and orders for the respective equipment.
• Conducting of internal hygiene inspections as well as supporting and participation in all external Public Health Inspections.
• Preparation, implementation and regular checking of all logs and check lists regarding HACCP and SQM.
• Conducting of sanitation / public health trainings for new crew and staff as well as refresher courses for the whole ship’s crew.
• Contract length of your first contract: 4-5 months, following contracts afterwards possible

What you bring on board:

• Certified, qualified training in hygiene or sanitation management or at least 3 years of job experience in a comparable function.
• At least 5 years of job experience, if possible on board a cruise vessel.
• In-depth knowledge of all relevant health and hygiene regulations.
• Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German (written & spoken).
• Good IT knowledge (MS Office)
• Managerial skills, assertiveness, flexibility, organisational skills
• Ability to motivate employees
