POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is seeking a Head of Propulsion to lead the propulsion division across multiple departments, overseeing engine design, testing, and vehicle integration. The role requires guiding large teams, managing budgets, and coordinating with the Vehicles department to drive innovation in propulsion systems.

The position offers long-term prospects with a permanent contract, an international team, and opportunities to shape the company’s strategic direction in space transportation

Qualifikationen

• Proficiency in German and English.

Aufgaben

• Lead the Propulsion Division across multiple departments (engine design, testing, fluid systems).
• Oversee all engine development, manufacturing, testing and vehicle integration of propulsion systems.
• Ensure cost-effective, timely execution of technical tasks and projects.
• Foster innovation in propulsion systems and engine/vehicle integration.
• Manage resources including personnel and budgets.
• Coordinate with the Vehicles department and support customer acquisition.

Your mission

• Leading the Propulsion Division with responsibility for at least three departments in the fields of rocket engine design, rocket engine testing and fluid systems
• Responsible for all engine developments at POLARIS including design, manufacturing, testing, and vehicle integration of propulsion systems
• Ensuring the prompt and cost-effective execution of technical tasks and projects
• Fostering innovation in propulsion systems and engine/vehicle integration
• Managing resources including personnel and budget
• Serving as liaison with the Vehicles department
• Support customer acquisition

The Head of Propulsion reports to the Head of Engineering.

Your profile

• Comprehensive work experience in major rocket engine projects
• Comprehensive experience in leading large teams/projects
• Additional work experience in air-breathing propulsion systems is an advantage
• Additional background in hypersonics technologies is an advantage
• Experience in the defense sector is an advantage
• Proficiency in both German and English
• Start-up mentality
• Proactive thinking, high level of motivation, flexibility, resilience, and teamworking skills
