Basler is an international leader and experienced expert in computer vision. We offer a broad portfolio of vision hardware and software as well as customer-specific products and solutions.

We employ about 850 people at our headquarters in Ahrensburg, Germany, as well as other sales and development locations throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Key factors in our more than 35-year success story include the courage to take risks, the willingness to see constant change as normal and the passion to pursue customer-oriented innovations.

Why This Role Is Special

Do you want to do more than simply manage data and make a lasting contribution to improving its quality and value across the entire organization? Are you passionate about establishing global standards, bringing diverse stakeholders together, and actively driving the advancement of data management? Then you have come to the right place.

As a Global Data Steward (m/f/d), you’ll be part of our Corporate Governance Office and Legal team, which reports directly to the Executive Board. This means you’ll work in an environment closely tied to key decisions and company-wide issues.

Together with Business and IT, you’ll shape our global data strategy and continuously refine our data governance structures. You’ll provide technical leadership for our global Data Steward organization, establish consistent standards across relevant data domains, and ensure that data quality is improved in a measurable, transparent, and sustainable way.

In this role, you will work closely with business functions, Data Owners, Process Owners, and IT, representing data management requirements in international projects and transformation initiatives. In doing so, you will make an important contribution to reliable data, efficient processes, and well-informed business decisions.

Your responsibilities
  • Further Development of the Global Data Strategy: Together with the business and IT teams, you will further develop the global data strategy, identify opportunities for improvement, and derive measures to achieve sustainable standardization and continuous improvement of master data quality.
  • Leadership and Development of the Global Data Steward Organization: You will provide functional leadership for the global Data Steward organization and drive its further development, establishing consistent methods, standards, and ways of working across all relevant data domains.
  • Management of Data Governance and Data Standards: You will define global data standards and governance policies, prepare decisions for the Data Governance Steering Board, and ensure the implementation and monitoring of binding requirements, as well as clearly defined roles and responsibilities for business-critical master data and data objects.
  • Responsibility for Data Quality and Improvement Measures: You will drive continuous improvements in data quality, define quality targets, analyze deviations, and initiate sustainable improvement measures in collaboration with the business functions, consistently monitoring their implementation and progress.
  • Development and Reporting of Data Quality KPIs: You will be responsible for defining, monitoring, and communicating global data quality KPIs. This will provide management and the relevant governance bodies with transparency regarding target achievement, risks, and areas requiring action.
  • Representing Data Management in Projects and Transformation Initiatives: You will represent data management requirements in global ERP, MDM, analytics, and transformation projects, ensuring that data quality, master data requirements, and governance policies are appropriately taken into account.
  • Managing Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will coordinate collaboration between Data Owners, Data Stewards, Process Owners, and IT, bring together different perspectives, and prepare the necessary governance decisions.
  • Further Development of the Data Governance Roadmap: You will continuously develop our global data governance roadmap, aligning it with the company's overarching objectives and global data strategy.
Your qualifications
  • Completed vocational training in business, technology, or information technology, or a relevant university degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Relevant professional experience, ideally around three years or more, in data management, master data management, data governance, or business process management.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance, master data management, and data quality management.
