Your responsibilities

• Managing the international patent portfolio from strategic and economic perspectives, as well as contributing to the implementation and monitoring of the international intellectual property strategy
• Providing patent law support for international development projects, identifying product and development ideas eligible for protection, and assisting with their filing as industrial property rights
• Conducting prior art searches, as well as organizing, executing, and optimizing intellectual property monitoring, including critical competitor filings
• Conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, evaluating potential infringements of third-party intellectual property rights by Basler, and independently granting patent clearance
• Enforcing and defending the company’s own intellectual property rights and challenging those of third parties; investigating potential infringements of Basler’s intellectual property rights by competitors and detailed infringement allegations, as well as managing pre‑litigation disputes and litigation proceedings
• Independently handling official notices, oppositions, objections, and appeals, in collaboration with external patent attorneys as necessary
• Managing external patent attorneys and specialist attorneys, including quality and cost control
• Conducting licensing negotiations with third parties
• Negotiating agreements regarding compensation for employee inventions and determining the compensation

Your qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field, such as computer science, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of relevant professional experience in intellectual property law and IP management
• Strong knowledge of patent, utility model, and employee invention law;
• Knowledge of competition law and copyright law is a plus
• Experience working with patent databases and proficiency in MS Office
• Strong technical and analytical skills; knowledge of computer vision is a plus
• Negotiation skills as well as entrepreneurial thinking and action
• Fluency in spoken and written German and English
