Rulemapping Group in Berlin is seeking an Accounting Controller to join the Finance team, ensuring accurate monthly figures and compliant reporting for the group. You will work with the Accounting Manager to prepare statements and tax documents, review invoices, and support intercompany reconciliations in a dynamic GovTech environment.
Fluency in German and strong Excel skills are required, along with 2–3 years of accounting experience and familiarity with DATEV and HGB.
We make laws machine-readable. In the Finance team, you ensure our figures are correct and reliable early in the month. Rulemapping develops the open standard for digital law using the Law as Code approach. Our decision models represent the logic of laws and regulations in machine-readable form; the decision remains with people. We are supported by the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, SPRIND, and are part of the Federal Government's modernization agenda.
To start, you will get the accounting ready for our growth together with our Accounting Manager. After that, controlling tasks will be added, which you will develop with our Director Finance & Legal. You review incoming and outgoing invoices against our policies and, alongside the Accounting Manager, are a point of contact for our tax advisory firm. You prepare monthly and annual financial statements for all companies in the group, including intercompany reconciliations. You then analyze revenue and costs in budget-versus-actual comparisons and clarify variances. You are responsible for liquidity planning, monthly reporting, and forecasting, and contribute to budget planning. You define standard processes for document flow, approvals, and filing, and establish controls that help identify errors early. For funded projects, you track the figures through to an audit-ready proof of use. Together with Sales and Delivery, you build controlling for projects and sales.
2 to 3 years of experience in accounting, DATEV, and solid knowledge of HGB, ideally also with a background in project business, grant accounting, or international matters. A proven track record of setting up and implementing processes independently, a strong awareness of compliance, and a structured, careful approach to work. Initial controlling experience or a clear desire to grow in this direction. Very strong Excel skills and the drive to identify opportunities for improvement independently and implement them using digital tools, automation, or AI. A completed degree in business administration, ideally with a focus on accounting, finance, or controlling. Very good German and confident English skills.
