Job summary

ABB AG in Berlin seeks a Field Service Technician to install, commission and maintain ABB drive and power converters across plants in the region. You will be the main customer contact, combining technical skill with service orientation in a hybrid work setup.

Expect a vocational technical background in electrical engineering or mechatronics, initial field experience, travel willingness mainly within Germany, and fluent German with good English.

Qualifications

• Vocational training in electrical engineering or mechatronics.
• Initial professional experience welcomed; newcomers encouraged.
• Fluent German with good English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel within southern/central Germany and worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Identify errors and malfunctions and initiate countermeasures.
• Perform commissioning and maintenance of ABB drive systems.
• Execute and monitor service orders; conduct root cause analysis in warranty cases.
• Participate in modernization projects.
• Be on call for emergency services.

Key responsibilities

Our ABB frequency converters and power converters are a crucial element in many plants in the process industry, renewable energy, and mechanical engineering with a capacity of up to 100MW. As a communicative personality, combine your technical skills with an interest in service for our ABB drive technology. We rely on your sensitivity in dealing with customers, for whom you are the first point of contact. Does this sound like an exciting task for you?

• Identifying errors and malfunctions and initiating countermeasures
• Performing commissioning and maintenance
• Executing and monitoring agreed services of service orders and conducting root cause analysis in warranty cases
• Participating in modernization projects
• Being on call for emergency services

Qualifications for the role

• Vocational technical training in electrical engineering/mechatronics or technician training in electronics
• Initial professional experience, but we also welcome newcomers
• Knowledge in drive technology
• Confident appearance towards customers and high customer orientation
• Personally, you are characterized by a methodical approach and problem-solving skills
• Fluent in German and good English skills, both written and spoken
• High willingness to travel, mainly within southern/central Germany - temporarily also worldwide
