Our offices: We are based across Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Luxembourg, with a HQ in Berlin.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The team safeguards Unzer’s performance and reputation by proactively managing enterprise-wide financial risks and non-financial risks – covering capital, liquidity, credit/counterparty, market and settlement risk as well as operational, process and control risks, provide independent oversight, embedding the risk framework, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a strong risk culture – enabling informed decisions and sustainable growth within risk appetite. Acting as second-line-of-defense expert across both risk domains, the role brings particular depth in financial risk and translates quantitative risk insights into actionable management information. Unzer lives a customer-centric organization, so that the Enterprise Risk Manager is fully aware of who his/her customers are and leads by example in striving to have all Financial & Non-Financial Enterprise Risk processes, documentations and ways of working to be customer-first, pragmatic and solution-orientated to the highest degree possible.

What your work will look like:

  • Serve as the (local) subject matter expert, supporting teams and individuals in financial and non-financial risk-related topics with in-depth expertise in financial risk (capital adequacy, liquidity, credit/counterparty, market and settlement risk).
  • Ensure effective/sound implementation and integration of the risk management framework across all Unzer entities, adhering to relevant regulatory requirements (EBA, CSSF, MaRisk, DFSA, and/or other applicable EU regulations), including risk appetite statement and the derived financial and non-financial risk limits and thresholds.
  • Identify and address gaps in the risk framework while proactively proposing solutions, changes, or preventive measures; conduct risk analyses and review existing controls for effectiveness, including scenario and stress testing as well as risk reporting with key risk indicators for management and committees.
  • Assess, review, and contribute to continually improve the risk management framework, ensuring it remains effective amid changing regulatory and business needs.
  • Contribute with developing, updating, and maintaining risk policies, procedures, and related documentation across both risk domains.
  • Support both internal and external audits, including regulatory audits; implement and monitor of trainings and programs to promote risk awareness within the organization; collaborate independently with other Group Risk Control functions on projects, tasks and enterprise risk-related initiatives, seeking guidance for complex or unfamiliar scenarios.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Solid knowledge of regulatory requirements concerning financial (enterprise) risk – e.g. capital and liquidity adequacy and safeguarding of client funds on the financial side, and internal control and operational risk requirements on the non-financial side.
  • Solid experience with internal control systems and risk management frameworks, with an understanding of payment/financial services and/or acquiring business operations considered an advantage.
  • Exposed to and having knowledge of relevant European regulations, with emphasis on German, Luxembourg, and Danish requirements.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the fields of enterprise risk, risk control, risk management, audit, or consulting, ideally with a demonstrable focus on financial risk topics; strong quantitative and analytical skills and confident handling of financial data, risk metrics and reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and clearly present conclusions and plans to a range of stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in English, German, and/or Danish, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Please note that we will not sponsor your visa or relocation, and you must have a valid work permit to be eligible for this position.
