Description

Do you want to work on a New Class of Drones? Our product universe spans three different platforms with maximum take‑off weights of up to 1000 kg and characteristic dimensions of 8 m: the hexacopter Grille for medical evacuation, the multi‑role rotorcraft Wespe for logistics and support operations, and the fixed‑wing drone Bussard for surveillance and intelligence missions. All systems are powered by RasCore, our highly redundant, military‑grade avionics system for safe operations within EASA’s Specific Category. Three aircraft, one mission: to bridge the gap between small UAVs and traditional manned systems.

Then this might be the mission for you. As an Air Engineer AVILUS, you will shape the way our aerial platforms are developed, documented, and authorized for real‑world deployment. Your work ensures that our UAVs meet the demanding requirements of modern certification and operational safety. You will be the bridge between technical innovation and aviation regulation — from design verification to SORA‑based operational approvals.

Tasks

• Define and maintain the certification strategy for our UAV systems under SORA and applicable civil/military frameworks.
• Develop and manage compliance checklists and airworthiness documentation (ICAs, tech files, OSO matrices).
• Interface with regulatory authorities and internal design teams to ensure alignment with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
• Support and lead configuration management, change control, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with system engineering and safety teams to review safety assessments and integrate regulatory perspectives.
• Lead the preparation of airworthiness‑related deliverables for operational approvals and technical dossiers.

Qualifications

• Degree: Completed Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, or comparable programs.
• Experience: 3 years of practical experience in aerospace engineering.
• Method‑Knowledge: Familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks (e.g., EASA Part 21, SORA, CS‑UAS, ISO 21384), configuration and change management, compliance verification, and continued airworthiness principles.
• Tool‑Knowledge (mandatory): Microsoft Office, Excel, document version control tools (e.g., Git, SharePoint, or equivalents).
• Tool‑Knowledge (optional): Polarion, Siemens Teamcenter (or comparable PLM tools).
• Required for employment: Security clearance (Ü2‑Sabotageschutz) approval.
