Company Overview

A leading international technical engineering and construction contractor delivering complex projects across the data centre, pharmaceutical, logistics and advanced manufacturing sectors throughout the UK and Europe.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Aftercare Manager to support completed data centre projects across Frankfurt and other locations. The role will involve responding to reported defects, conducting site investigations and coordinating contractors through remedial works and final close-out.

Regular travel between sites is required, with distances between projects potentially involving long drives. The successful candidate must also be prepared to work away from home for periods of up to one or two weeks when overseeing larger remedial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, assess and respond to client notifications concerning building defects.
• Visit sites to investigate reported issues and establish the required remedial action.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying problems.
• Review O&M manuals, drawings, asset registers, warranties and contractual documentation.
• Record and report defects accurately, maintaining clear trackers and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers to ensure issues are resolved within agreed timescales.
• Supervise remedial and construction works, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, contractors and internal project teams.
• Prioritise urgent defects and reorganise schedules in response to changing requirements.
• Inspect completed works and ensure affected areas are returned to the required condition.
• Coordinate the preparation of completion reports in accordance with client requirements.
• Manage General Operatives supporting aftercare activities.
• Make practical on-site decisions to resolve issues and prevent further escalation.

Experience and Requirements

• Previous experience in construction aftercare, defects management, facilities management or project close-out.
• A broad understanding of civil, structural, architectural and MEP construction disciplines.
• Data centre or mission-critical project experience would be advantageous.
• Ability to investigate and diagnose building defects.
• Experience reading O&M manuals, technical drawings, warranties and contract documentation.
• Previous experience setting up and supervising works on operational sites.
• Strong client-facing, contractor-management and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to urgent issues.
• Practical problem-solving skills and confidence making decisions on site.
• A valid driving licence.
• Willingness to undertake regular long-distance driving between sites.
• Flexibility to travel and work away from home for up to one or two weeks when required.
