Job Summary
The System & Cloud Engineer Jr. is a hands‑on member of the Data Center & Cloud team for the Mosaic Infrastructure Managed Services engagement, supporting a managed estate of servers, virtualization, storage, and cloud workloads across roughly 60 sites in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Peru, and Paraguay. Working under the guidance of the System & Cloud Engineer Sr. and the Systems Engineer Lead, this role handles day‑to‑day server administration, incident resolution, monitoring response, backup operations, and routine maintenance, building toward more advanced systems and cloud engineering responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Resolve escalated server and infrastructure incidents from the Service Desk and NOC, including Windows Server and Linux OS‑level issues.
- Perform routine server administration: account and access requests, disk and resource management, service restarts, certificate renewals, and scheduled task upkeep.
- Support virtualization operations (VMware/Hyper‑V): VM provisioning, snapshots, resource adjustments, and basic troubleshooting under established procedures.
- Execute and monitor backup jobs, remediating failures and escalating recurring issues; support restore requests.
- Respond to monitoring alerts for the server estate, performing first‑level diagnostics and escalating per runbooks.
- Support patching activities in coordination with the NOC Analyst Sr. (Patching), including pre/post checks on assigned servers.
- Assist with cloud operations tasks (Azure/AWS) such as resource provisioning, tagging hygiene, and basic troubleshooting under senior guidance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of executed work, runbooks, and environment records.
- Follow the account's incident, request, and change management processes with accurate ticket documentation.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and the team's on‑call rotation as assigned.
- Grow technical depth over time through mentoring, training, and progressively complex assignments.
Skills And Experience
Required Qualifications
- Degree or technical diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1-2+ years of experience in server administration, infrastructure operations, or advanced IT support.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server administration; Linux exposure a plus.
- Familiarity with virtualization concepts (VMware or Hyper‑V).
- Understanding of backup/restore concepts and monitoring/alerting workflows.
- Solid troubleshooting fundamentals and a methodical approach to incident resolution.
- Good documentation habits and disciplined ticket hygiene.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English B2+.
- Availability for scheduled maintenance windows and on‑call rotation participation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Entry‑level Microsoft, VMware, or cloud certification (e.g., AZ-900, AWS Cloud Practitioner).
- Exposure to Azure or AWS administration.
- Basic scripting exposure (PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience working within ITIL‑based processes (incident, request, change).
- Trilingual Spanish/English/Portuguese a MUST.
Technical Skills & Tools
- Windows Server administration; Linux fundamentals a plus.
- Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V) at an operator level.
- Backup and monitoring tools (platform per account standards).
- Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) at a fundamentals level.
