Organizational context: The UNOPS Global Portfolios Office (GPO) supports sustainable development, climate action, and peacebuilding globally. In Colombia, UNOPS implements the UNMAS programme, assisting the National Government in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and compliance with the Ottawa Convention. This role is part of a program to strengthen Colombia's HMA sector through policy, operational capacity, and resilience-building initiatives.
Job purpose: The Support Services Intern will provide essential operational, administrative, and logistical support to the Support Services Unit. Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Associate, the intern will contribute to the daily execution of support functions. This includes assisting with general administration, procurement processes, asset management, logistics coordination, and human resources tasks. The role is crucial in ensuring that all activities adhere to UNOPS rules, regulations, and operational policies, thereby supporting the effective delivery of UNOPS projects and programmes in Colombia.
Responsibilities: The Support Services Intern will assist in various key areas. In Procurement, responsibilities include coordinating administrative procurement activities, drafting solicitation documents, processing vendor profiles, and maintaining procurement plans. For Asset and Logistics Management, duties involve updating asset inventory records, supporting stocktaking, reconciling asset data, and coordinating transportation arrangements. Administrative and Logistical Support includes assisting with event arrangements, travel management, visa administration, correspondence routing, and petty cash handling. The intern will also provide Human Resources support by assisting with recruitment processes, drafting interview reports, and organizing onboarding materials. Finally, general support involves contributing to the integration of organizational policies like the Gender Parity Strategy and PSEA principles.
Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university program (Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D.) or have graduated within the last three years. Preferred areas of study include Business, Administration, Asset and Logistics, Procurement, Data Analytics, Management, or International Relations.
Work experience: No prior work experience is required for this internship. However, desirable experience includes administrative support, procurement, asset and logistics, or human resources within an international organization. Proficiency in Google Suite and experience in data analysis are also advantageous.
