This Junior Programme Assistant role supports the administrative and finance team within the Andean Countries HUB, contributing to the proper functioning of regional initiatives.
Job purpose: This consultancy aims to provide essential programme and administrative support to UN-Habitat's Andean Countries HUB. The Junior Programme Assistant will assist in the implementation of projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with work plans and procedures. Key contributions include supporting coordination with national counterparts and partners, organizing programme documentation, facilitating meetings, and maintaining project trackers. The role also involves assisting with donor reports, knowledge management activities, and general office support, all under supervision. The ultimate goal is to ensure the effective delivery of programme activities and the smooth operation of the HUB, contributing to UN-Habitat's mission of promoting sustainable urbanization and reducing inequality.
Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive programme and administrative support for UN-Habitat's Andean Countries portfolio, adhering to approved work plans and procedures. Coordinate effectively with national counterparts, partners, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery. Assist in preparing, consolidating, and organizing all programme documentation, including project files, work plans, and progress reports. Support the organization and documentation of meetings, workshops, and events, managing agendas, minutes, and action points. Monitor programme activities by maintaining trackers, timelines, and databases for reporting. Assist in preparing inputs for donor reports and internal briefs. Contribute to knowledge management by organizing and archiving project outputs and lessons learned. Perform general office support duties, including data entry and record updates. Assist in developing presentation materials and maintaining communication channels for project development. Provide inputs for process systematization and sharing of best practices within the region and with headquarters.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, Urban Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field is desirable. Fluency in English and Spanish is required; knowledge of another UN Official Language is desirable.
Work experience: A minimum of six months to one year of experience in project management or supporting programme/project implementation within development, humanitarian, or urban contexts is required. Experience within the United Nations System is desirable. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills are essential for handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
