Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations.

The role requires 4+ years of production Python experience, strong knowledge of event-driven architectures, REST/OpenAPI, and Kafka. You will work in a GenAI-enabled environment with CI/CD, Linux, and containerized services; communicate across global teams.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of production experience with Python, typed, tested, and packaged services and APIs.
• Strong background in event-driven and asynchronous architecture and messaging.
• Experience designing REST APIs and OpenAPI; willingness to work with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms.
• Familiarity with GenAI-assisted development and AI coding agents.
• Testing discipline including pytest; CI/CD pipelines; Linux, Git and containers.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to justify architectural trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy and a durable replayable log.
• Design interfaces with OpenAPI and AsyncAPI; ensure reliable integrations.
• Implement resilience and reliability for ITSM platform integrations.
• Create multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, and webhooks.
• Develop GenAI-facing interfaces and onboarding for event types and subscriptions.
• Own code quality, reviews, testing, observability, and production support.
• Collaborate with squads and customers to understand requirements and constraints.
