Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience, and AI-facing integrations. You will design contract-first interfaces, implement a durable event log, and translate signals into ITSM actions with exactly-once semantics.

You will work across distributed systems with CI/CD, testing, and GenAI tooling. This role blends backend precision with impactful, enterprise-scale projects in a collaborative squad.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of production experience with Python, with typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven and asynchronous architecture, including messaging and retries.
• REST API design, OpenAPI experience and willingness to work with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development and comfort using AI coding agents daily.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD, Linux, Git and containers.
• Strong problem-solving across distributed systems and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling an event taxonomy and a durable replayable log.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create the correlation layer to turn signals into ITSM actions, applied exactly once.
• Develop resilience mechanisms so services recover when upstream platforms fail.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, streams.
• Develop the event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing surfaces and safe agent tooling for integration use.
• Modernise legacy integrations with deprecation plans without disrupting users.
• Own quality end-to-end: code review, testing, observability, and production support.
• Collaborate in squad ceremonies and with consuming teams to capture requirements.
• Autonomously own a component or project, documenting major architecture decisions.
