Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Manizales, Colombia to own and evolve a Snowflake-based data platform within a regulated healthcare context.

You will lead day-to-day operations, optimize warehouses, manage data ingestion, and drive robust data pipelines across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers. You’ll implement data quality, observability, and incident-management practices, mentor engineers, and coordinate with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, and Security teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience operating and developing on Snowflake, including warehouse performance and production troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong experience with dbt for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience operating managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran or HVR and supporting custom pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services, particularly S3 and event/file-based ingestion patterns.
• Experience with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes and similar orchestration tools.
• Proficiency in Python or similar for data engineering and automation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, pipeline dependencies, schema evolution, and data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management for production data platforms.
• Ability to lead complex incident resolution and implement preventive actions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; able to work with client stakeholders.
• Availability to work 9:00 AM–6:00 PM PT and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform service tower during LatAm coverage window.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments and perform capacity planning.
• Administer data access with least-privilege and audit-ready controls.
• Manage data ingestion pipelines (Fivetran, HVR, custom) including onboarding and schema changes.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, CONSUMPTION layers with CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations, including lifecycle and access controls.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps teams for Argo Workflows and Kubernetes workloads.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards and checks.
• Expand monitoring and lineage using tools like SYNQ, dbt, Snowflake audits, Splunk.
• Lead major data incidents and perform post-incident reviews with preventive actions.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where data connectivity issues arise.
• Deliver standardization, automation, reliability, and cost improvements; migrate legacy patterns to golden paths.
• Follow incident, request, access, change, and release workflows; create runbooks and docs.
• Mentor engineers and ensure effective handoffs across the distributed team.
• Participate in Data Platform on-call rotation for critical incidents.
