Higher Options is seeking a Senior Accountant / Financial Controller to join a remote, full-time role supporting US-based hospitality and events brands. You will own QuickBooks Online records, classify transactions effectively, and prepare multi-entity monthly statements while ensuring accuracy in the income statement and balance sheet.

The ideal candidate has deep QuickBooks Online expertise, strong GAAP knowledge, and experience in multi-entity accounting and close processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online.

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements across entities.
• Analyze month-over-month results and flag anomalies.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, intercompany activity, and other key accounts.
• Lead month-end and year-end close with accuracy and timeliness.

Senior Accountant / Financial Controller

Compensation: $3000-4000. USD

Location: Remote

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with overlap with U.S. Central Time business hours

Higher Options is hiring a highly analytical and detail-driven Senior Accountant to support the financial and accounting operations of a growing U.S.-based group of hospitality and events brands.

This role is ideal for someone with deep QuickBooks Online expertise who not only understands how to maintain clean books, but also understands the why behind transaction classifications, the story behind the numbers, and how financial activity impacts the income statement, balance sheet, and overall business performance.

We are looking for someone who can confidently review financials from one month to the next, identify unusual fluctuations, spot inconsistencies early, and help maintain accurate, reliable reporting across multiple entities.

What you’ll do:

• Own and maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online
• Review and classify transactions correctly, with a strong understanding of their impact on the income statement and balance sheet
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements across multiple entities
• Analyze month-over-month financial results and flag numbers that look unusual or inconsistent
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany transactions, and other key accounts
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Support payroll review, payroll allocations, and related reporting across entities
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting needs
• Help maintain accurate inventory, COGS, fixed asset, and general ledger records
• Support tax compliance, audit readiness, and coordination with external accountants or advisors
• Improve accounting workflows, documentation, and standard operating procedures
• Partner closely with founders and leadership to provide clear, useful financial insight

What we’re looking for:

• Strong, hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
• Excellent understanding of financial statements, including the relationship between the P&L, balance sheet, and underlying transactions
• Ability to explain and apply the logic behind transaction classification
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to compare financials month to month and identify discrepancies or red flags
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and reconciliations
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Clear written and verbal English communication
• Comfortable working remotely with U.S.-based teams and stakeholders
• Experience with tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Loom, and payroll/accounting platforms

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA or equivalent is a plus
• 4+ years of accounting experience
• 2+ years in a senior-level accounting role
• Experience in U.S. companies or American-aligned work environments
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices
