Job summary

AECOM seeks a seasoned Tailings Leader based in Santiago de Chile to drive technical leadership and regional growth in tailings management across Chile and LATAM. You will mentor staff, collaborate with clients, and lead strategic initiatives to expand market share while ensuring regulatory compliance and deliverable quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on tailings dam design and management.
• Demonstrated success in business development, including client relationship management and proposal preparation.
• 15+ years of experience in tailings-related geotechnical engineering (preferred).
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
• Experience with mine waste management, closure design, and water management for tailings facilities (preferred).
• Familiarity with advanced numerical modeling techniques and software (preferred).
• Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management (preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and inspire teams (preferred).
• English and French language skills are a plus (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead vision for tailings dam practice in Chile and LATAM; oversee design, analysis, and construction oversight.
• Business Development: Identify new opportunities in tailings management across Chile and LATAM; manage proposals.
• Team Development: Mentor engineers and provide technical reviews to ensure quality.
• Regulatory and Industry Advocacy: Stay updated on regulatory frameworks; advocate best practices in tailings management.
