Job summary

LimmaTech Biologics AG in Schlieren near Zürich is seeking a Research Associate / Research Scientist (USP 100%) to advance vaccine development through recombinant protein expression and bacterial fermentation.

You will perform USP experiments at lab scale, analyze vaccine candidates by SDS-PAGE and Western blot, develop in-process controls, and collaborate across teams to push projects forward.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Microbiology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Practical experience and solid knowledge of bacterial fermentation and heterologous protein expression systems.
• Proven hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of laboratory-scale bacterial fermentation using modern bioreactor systems such as DasBox.
• Structured, reliable, and solution-oriented working style, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform, analyze, and plan USP experiments at laboratory scale in accordance with established plans, timelines, and project priorities.
• Analyze recombinantly produced vaccine candidates using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and related analytical methods.
• Establish and perform in-process controls (IPCs) to characterize fermentation intermediates, support process optimization, and monitor fermentation performance.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of recombinant protein expression and bacterial fermentation processes for vaccine research projects.
• Maintain laboratories and equipment in a clean, safe, and fully operational condition in accordance with applicable safety and operational standards.
• Identify and provide solutions to technical and scientific challenges arising during research activities.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues within and outside the Research team to support project objectives and ensure efficient execution of research activities.
