Job summary

Laboratory instruments seeks a Senior Technical Product Owner to own the software product backlog for laboratory instrument systems. You will translate product goals into development priorities and acceptance criteria, coordinating across product management, requirements engineering, architecture, development, UX and testing.

Fluent in English is required; German is an advantage. The role offers a hybrid work model with 100% workload and a 3–6 month interim period leading to a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in software-intensive industrial instruments.
• Understanding of embedded software and software-hardware integration.
• Fluent in English; German is an advantage.

Job description

You own and prioritize the software product backlog for laboratory instrument systems, aligning product, architecture and development teams.

Tasks

• Own and prioritize the software product backlog based on customer value and technical feasibility
• Translate product goals into development priorities, backlog items and acceptance criteria
• Align product management, requirements engineering, architecture, development, UX and testing
• Balance short-term product needs with long-term platform sustainability and scalability
• Guide architecture-informed product decisions and prioritize technical debt
• Maintain technical consistency across software teams in Switzerland and China
• Integrate quality, regulatory and cybersecurity requirements into product decisions

Profile

• Higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or comparable discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software-intensive industrial instruments
• Understanding of embedded software and software-hardware integration
• Experience as Technical Product Owner, Software Architect, Technical Lead or similar role
• Experience with agile and formal stage-gate development processes
• Fluent in English, written and spoken; German is an advantage
