Job summary

Mettler Toledo is seeking a Senior Software Technical Product Owner for Greifensee, Switzerland, to lead software product backlogs across global teams. You will align Product Management, Requirements Engineering, Architecture, Development, UX and Testing to deliver value, manage technical debt, and ensure scalable, embedded software integration with hardware.

Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or comparable technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in software-intensive industrial instruments with embedded software understanding.
• Experience as Technical Product Owner / Software Architect / Technical Lead with global cross-functional teams; China experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the software product backlog based on customer value, business needs, technical feasibility, quality, and risk.
• Translate product goals and customer needs into clear development priorities, backlog items, and acceptance criteria.

• Balance short-term needs with long-term platform sustainability, reuse, and scalability.
• Guide architecture-informed product decisions and prioritize technical enablers and technical debt.

• Integrate quality, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements into product decisions.
• Drive delivery planning, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communication across software development activities.

For our Laboratory Weighing (LabTec) division, which is the world's leading manufacturer of laboratory balances, we are looking for the Greifensee location, METTLER TOLEDO's global operational headquarters, for an enthusiastic Senior Software Technical Product Owner 100% (all genders).

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

• Own and prioritize the software product backlog based on customer value, business needs, technical feasibility, quality, and risk.

What You Need to Succeed

In this role, you will need to fulfill the following requirements to succeed:

• You have a higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• You bring a minimum of 5 years of work experience in software-intensive industrial instruments, with solid understanding of embedded software and software-hardware integration.
• Proven experience as Technical Product Owner, Software Product Owner, Software Architect, Technical Lead, Technical Product Manager, or similar role with experience working with global and cross-functional matrix organization. Experience with China is advantageous.
• Good understanding of modern software development technologies, software architecture, distributed systems, interfaces, and embedded products.
• Ideally you bring experience in leading software projects across agile and formal stage-gate development processes and with laboratory instruments and system integration (LIMS, ELN, and open APIs).
• You are a cooperative, customer-focused, and adaptable team player with strong communication and conflict-resolution skills, with a holistic perspective, the willingness to learn and a strong commitment to fostering trust and integrity.
• You are fluent in English (written and spoken); German is an advantage but not required.
