Flexsis AG, Filiale Basel LS is recruiting Roche Basel for a Research Histopathology Technologist (m/w/d) to support end-to-end histology workflows in a dynamic drug discovery environment.

You will perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (IHC/ISH/IF) and digital pathology, maintain instruments, and train peers while staying current with literature.

Qualifications

• University degree in the life sciences or equivalent laboratory technologist with histology experience.
• Hands-on fixation, embedding, sectioning and staining; strong knowledge of histology instrument operation and maintenance.
• Attention to detail with precision handling of delicate samples (e.g., cryopreserved nervous-system tissues) and accurate data generation.
• Customer-focused with growth mindset; creative problem-solving in a fast-paced research setting.
• Excellent English communication; able to build a professional network and work inclusively.

Role & Responsibilities

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Execute end-to-end workflows for tissue specimens, including processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (including immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence (IF)) and digital pathology techniques such as whole slide scanning;
• Perform quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting across a range of histology lab instruments to ensure high-quality data production;
• Provide training and support in the use of histology equipment, and collaborate with laboratory scientists to optimize tissue-based assays in early drug discovery research projects;
• You embrace a continuous learning mindset by actively engaging with the scientific literature to stay up to date on new technologies/approaches used in the histopathology space.

Candidate Profile

Must Haves:

• You hold a university degree in the life sciences or are a Laboratory Technologist with at least 3 years of histology laboratory experience
• You have exceptional skills in the histological preparation of mammalian tissues, including hands-on experience in fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques, along with an in-depth knowledge of the operation and maintenance of histological laboratory equipment, and a solid understanding of regulations for assay documentation to ensure high-quality data generation
• You are a skilled experimentalist with a keen attention to detail along with robust manual dexterity and precision handling of delicate samples, such as cryopreserved nervous-system tissues, to ensure accurate and reproducible tissue preparation (e.g. cryosectioning, sectioning of in vitro samples such as organoids
• Customer-focused with a drive for growth and a questioning mindset. Skilled in creative problem-solving, organization, and implementing innovative ideas efficiently in a fast-paced research context;
• Excellent communicators with a high fluency in English, a desire to continuously build a personal network and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development.
