Job summary

Personal Contact Group is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to execute end-to-end workflows for tissue specimens and to contribute to early drug discovery projects in Basel-Stadt. You will perform embedding, sectioning, and staining, with advanced IHC/ISH/IF techniques, while maintaining strict quality control across lab instruments.

The role requires hands-on experience in fixation, embedding, cryosectioning, and proficiency with histology equipment, coupled with meticulous data

Qualifications

• You hold a university degree in the life sciences or are a Laboratory Technologist with at least 3 years of histology laboratory experience.
• You have hands-on experience in fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining, with knowledge of histology equipment operation and regulatory assay documentation requirements.
• You are an expert in tissue preparation, including cryopreserved nervous-system tissues, with precise handling and reproducible results.

Job description

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Execute end-to-end workflows for tissue specimens, including processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (including immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence (IF)) and digital pathology techniques such as whole slide scanning;
• Perform quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting across a range of histology lab instruments to ensure high-quality data production;
• Provide training and support in the use of histology equipment, and collaborate with laboratory scientists to optimize tissue-based assays in early drug discovery research projects;

Must Haves:

• You hold a university degree in the life sciences or are a Laboratory Technologist with at least 3 years of histology laboratory experience
• You have exceptional skills in the histological preparation of mammalian tissues, including hands-on experience in fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques, along with an in-depth knowledge of the operation and maintenance of histological laboratory equipment, and a solid understanding of regulations for assay documentation to ensure high-quality data generation
• You are a skilled experimentalist with a keen attention to detail along with robust manual dexterity and precision handling of delicate samples, such as cryopreserved nervous-system tissues, to ensure accurate and reproducible tissue preparation (e.g. cryosectioning, sectioning of in vitro samples such as organoids
• Customer-focused with a drive for growth and a questioning mindset. Skilled in creative problem-solving, organization, and implementing innovative ideas efficiently in a fast-paced research context;
