Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking an R&D Engineer in Wettingen, Switzerland, to join our Global Product Support Team for the Grid Components portfolio.

You will develop innovative solutions, ensure compliance with design rules, and collaborate with R&D centers, Product Management, Quality, and Supply Chain across a global matrix organization. You will also maintain supplier quality, contribute to process improvements, and manage technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Fluency in English; German basics preferred or willingness to learn.
• Experience in matrix organizations and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and PLM/SAP systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for audits and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Elaborate innovative product solutions following standards and internal processes.
• Lead or contribute to R&D and GPS projects, driving process improvements.
• Collaborate with global R&D, GPS, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations and Sales in a matrix organization.
• Support investigation and resolution of technical and quality-related issues.
• Perform internal factory audits worldwide and ensure supplier and component quality.
• Create, maintain, and release technical documentation (schematics, calculations, drawings, BOMs, configurators, work instructions).
• Maintain Product Master data in PLM (Windchill) and ERP (SAP) systems; support lifecycle changes.
