A premier academic institution is seeking a PhD student for a project applying machine learning to building systems. The role involves creating a database for building archetypes in Canada, developing machine learning models, and requires a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. The position offers a stipend of CAD 30,000 per annum, with a start date anticipated in January 2025.
There have been growing efforts and advocations for integrating energy performance and carbon intensity metrics into building codes. One of the major technical barriers is the lack of a standard building archetype database and a consistent comparison method for the practitioners and the regulating body. This PhD project aims to remove this technical barrier.
